(Orange) - The Orange Chamber of Commerce has moved the offices to one of the well-recognized building in the city of Orange – The Royer Mansion. The building is located at 307 E. Chapman Ave, Orange, CA.
Located on the corner of Chapman Ave. and S. Grand St, Orange, the building is owned by the City of Orange and the Redevelopment Agency. It has had several uses thought out the years as a home, a mortuary and office space.
“We are very excited about our new location and the wonderful building that will now house the Orange Chamber of Commerce,” said Heidi Larkin-Reed, President/CEO. “We want to thank the city for making this possible.”
The building was home to one of the early pioneers in the City of Orange - Dr. Daniel Franlkin Royer who was a surgeon in Orange. He was born in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, March 21, 1852. He graduated with honors from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and settled in Orange in 1896 to retire from his practice. Dr. Royer was met with pronounced success in the City of Orange. The home was purchased in the early 80's by real estate developer and owner of Secrest Construction, Gene Secrest and his wife Charmella. The home had been used as a mortuary just before it was acquired by the Secrests'. After an extensive renovation, the couple hosted an invitation only open house reception on March 17, 1985 to celebrate the restoration of the mansion.
“Our move was assisted by several people and businesses including Erik Kuli from Telephone Industries, Pete Maddox from Commerce Technologies, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, the City of Orange and Lisa Kim and Jim Reichert.
